Jason grew up in western Montana with a fly rod in his hand. What started as a childhood obsession with trout became a lifelong pursuit — and eventually, a career spent sharing these rivers with anyone willing to get in the boat.
Over more than two decades on the water, Jason has developed a deep, almost encyclopedic knowledge of the rivers around Missoula. He reads hatches the way other people read the weather — intuitively, constantly, and with an eye toward what the fish are about to do, not just what they're doing right now.
His guiding style centers on education. Every client, whether they've never held a fly rod or they've fished for forty years, leaves the boat knowing something they didn't before. That commitment to teaching — not just catching — is what brings clients back year after year.
Jason has spent thousands of days on the Blackfoot, Clark Fork, Bitterroot, and Missouri. He knows which runs hold fish in high water, where the browns stack up during the Skwala hatch, and how the Clark Fork fishes differently in fall versus summer.
Whether you're working on your double haul or just trying to mend line for the first time, Jason meets you where you are. No judgment, no jargon — just clear, useful coaching that actually shows up in your fishing.
